DJ QUEEN PIN TOKA NIGERIA KWENYE SANTURI SIMCHEZO..!

In the industry believed to be highly dominated by male masculinity in Nigeria, one lady who has proven to the entire lovers of the Nigeria’s fast-rising entertainment industry that what a man can do a woman can equally do better is Queen Pin. The music industry has become a haven of pleasure to this Naija most anticipating DJ who has come to put the record straight and to give the menfolks a run for their money in the Disc Jockeying environment.
Dj Queen Pin
Her real name is Olufunmi Jasmine Akinyanju but in the entertainment world she’s known as Queen Pin, a name she got during one of her days as a Chess game player. Interestingly, this black and strong gifted DJ who is gradually becoming relevance face to reckon with is making in grand effort to change the notion of top players in the industry who believe that the wheels of steel is meant for the male gender alone. In the light of this, the beautiful artiste is clamouring for a change and also supporting the course of women who are ready to embrace this act of disc jockeying.
“Before I fell in love with Disc Jockeying, I was always inspired by the artistic ability of people like DJ K-Slay, an international artiste like that. I was fascinated by his drive and the manner he carries his audience along. So, when the opportunity came to come into the industry last year, I didn’t hesitate to become a DJ because that’s where I want to stay and showcase my talent.” Queen Pin stated.
Though, it’s about a year that this former undergraduate of the University of Abuja ventured into this esoteric business of Disc Jockeying, her record of accomplishment within that short time is awesome as she has displayed her talent at concerts, eevents and nightclubs, to mention but a few are, Jades Palace, Adeola Odekun, Reloaded, Trick’s Nightclubs tucked somewhere around the Shoprite Mall, Lekki, all on Lagos Island.
You may now wonder how she has managed to scale through the huddles of intimidation from the men folks, the native of Awe in Oyo State but Lagos born DJ said she was only mindful of her ability and was not bothered about the noise around characterized by the pull-her-down-syndrome. Hear her “change is what I am concerned about. Right now, I am getting my priority right, making a mix-tape that will stand the test of time and be applauded in the industry as the first ever female DJ in Nigeria to score such feats. That’s my aspiration and until I get to that level, I am still gonna continue to give my best.” She concluded.

Sarabah: A Female Rapper Wrestles With A Taboo Subject

I don't often have the opportunity to write about a film that combines world music and social activism as closely as Sarabah, which will be making its television debut on Link TV, Sunday, January 15 at 11 pm ET/8 pm PT and will repeat on Friday, January 27 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT. It is the story of Fatou Mandiang Diatta, dba Sister Fa.Fatou is a driven woman. She was driven to rise to being one of the most recognized rappers in her homeland of Senegal, and now she is driven to stop the practice of Female Genital Cutting; a tactful term for the removal of the clitoris, or more, that is still part of life (and death) in Senegal today. Her music tour to put an end to this custom is the subject of the film, and it leaves few people unmoved. I've posted the trailer, and you can find more information about it here and at the Women Make Movies site. I had heard Sister Fa's music on her excellent CD Tales from the Flipside of Paradise on Piranha records, and at the time suggested that she would make an excellent subject for part of a series of short films that Link TV was producing about New Music from the Muslim World. She was a good candidate in that we were hoping to find musicians who did not fall into the usual stereotypes, and being a successful female rapper in the male dominated society of Senegal was enough to put her in the running. But one meeting with the force that is Fatou convinced producer Steven Lawrence and Director Maria Gambale that her story could not be told within a 15 minute frame, and the decision was made (along with co-director Gloria Bremer) to create a full length documentary. That film, Sarabah, has gone on to win the Golden Butterfly Award in the Movies that Matter Film Festival.

HISTORIA YA RAPPER WA SUDAN ALIYEOKOLEWA NA HIP HOP (BILA SANAA) ;SEHEMU YA I

Born in the village of Tonj in Southern Sudan, Jal was a young child when the Second Sudanese Civil War broke out. His father joined the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and when he was about seven years old his mother was killed by soldiers loyal to the government. He then decided to join the thousands of children traveling to Ethiopia who had been told that they could be educated there.
However, many of the children, Jal included, were recruited by the SPLA and taken to military training camps in the bush in Etwas disguised as a school in front of international aid agencies and UN representatives, but behind closed doors the children were training to fight. "I didn't have a life as a child. In five years as a fighting boy, what was in my heart was to kill as many Muslims as possible."
Jal spent several years fighting with the SPLA in Ethiopia, until war broke in and out, there too and the child soldiers were forced back into Sudan by the fighting and joined the SPLA's efforts to fight the government in the town of Juba. "Many kids there were so bitter, they wanted to know what happened to them. And we all wanted revenge."
When the fighting became unbearable Jal and some other children decided to run away. They were on the move for three months, with many dying on the way, until they reached the town of Waat, which was the headquarter of a small group that had separated themselves from the main SPLA.
In Waat, Jal met Emma McCune, a British aid worker married to senior SPLA commandant Riek Machar. Emmanuel was only 11 years old then and McCune insisted he should not be a soldier. She adopted him and smuggled him to Kenya. There Emmanuel attended school in Nairobi. McCune died in a road accident a few months later, but her friends (Madeliene Bunting and Anna Ledgard) helped Emmanuel to continue his studies. However, after McCune died, her husband Machar did not agree with Emmanuel staying with him, and was forced to live in the slums.

DMX says he's ready to be more professional about his career.
DMX has been plagued with legal issues over the past few years, including several arrests and stints in jail. Now, X says that he's focused on music and no longer wants to have any trouble with the law.
DMX

During an interview with MTV News, Dark Man X, who released The Weigh In EP yesterday, says that his return to music signifies that he's more professional than ever.

"It's a good thing. I wish it was always like that but you can't really worry about what people think, what they say. I just gotta do me," said X. "The focus is on taking the music seriously, as a job, and less trouble."
He also explained why he released The Weigh In EP, stating that it serves as an "appetizer" for his comeback album Undisputed. "Everywhere I go people are like, 'When's the album droppin? When's the album droppin'?' So I was just like, lemme hit 'em with something, let them know, give them a little appetizer of what it's gonna be like," he said. "Not the same songs, because I'm sitting on like three albums right now, but ya know, just what it's gonna be like."

Jay-Z says he was inspired by old subway signs in New York City, New York.

Jay-Z recently unveiled the stark black-and-white logo for the Brooklyn Nets that he himself designed. During an interview with MTV News at his press conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Hov explained his creation, stating that he wanted to make something "classic"

"I wanted to make it really classic and strong, a throwback to Brooklyn and what we're about. It's real gritty and we're not about flash — well, sometimes. Just the roots of Brooklyn as this very bold, strong, simple logo," he said. "It was really a take off the old subway signs, if you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white. I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever."
Jay-Z was in the City of Brotherly Love to announce his two-day Budweiser "Made in America" festival, which he is both curating and headlining.

T.I. reveals the fall release date for his new album.

T.I. is currently recording his upcoming album Trouble Man, with 45 songs in the can. During an interview with Billboard’s Juice, Tip revealed that he has a duet with Usher lined up for the project, tossing his name into the fold while listing his dream collaborations.

“I'd love to work with Ke$ha. I want to work with Cee-Lo, Bruno Mars. I'd love [to work wtih] Frank Ocean, Miguel. I like to work with a lot of different people that can provide a lot of different sounds,” he said. “Usher and I have been putting our heads together on how we can present that perfect collaboration between him and myself."

Additionally, he explained that he wants to step outside of his comfort zone for the project, due in February 2012.

A lot of times, I'm taking myself out of my element," he said. "This is the first project where I'm talking about things that I've experienced before that I'm not necessarily experiencing now, 'cause I'm not doing a whole lot of partying. I do a little bit, but not a lot ... nothing like when I was in that life."
